Solo employee Sharron sweeps Johnny Allen Award
Solo employee Sharron sweeps Johnny Allen Award
We’re very proud of our team in Hertfordshire, especially Sharron our Cleaning Operative at Cheshunt Police Station.
Sharron was recently crowned ‘Employee of the Month’ by the Station Sergeant for “absolute dedication, flexibility and always going the extra mile with a smile!”
The Force’s Employee of the Month award is named ‘The Johnny Allen Award’ after a young Policeman who sadly lost his life after a battle with cancer.
Having worked at the station since 2015, Sharron was very proud to have known Johnny personally, and is especially pleased to have won an award dedicated to his memory.
Cheshunt Police Station Sergeant said “Sharron is a very hard working lady and it was a pleasure to present her with this award in recognition of her work. It certainly makes the lives of our operations teams a lot easier, having cleaning operatives as conscientious as her“.
It’s lovely when our clients tell us that one of our people has gone that extra mile for the people they work with and as such, Sharron is very much our employee of the month too, an award which goes with a £50 gift voucher as a token of our appreciation.
Congratulations Sharron for doing an amazing job, and well done from everyone at Solo.

Recognising a job well done
It’s always lovely to get great feedback and we’re very proud to have recently received recognition and a letter of thanks from one of our biggest contracts, highly praising the contribution made by our cleaners during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Remaining reactive during extremely difficult times is why our frontline staff are classed as essential workers and why they are so vital to ensuring the safe return to shared working environments for our customers and their staff.
It’s not by chance that we have been able to step up to the challenges Covid-19 has presented. As a company already providing infectious and viricidal cleans, we have been uniquely placed to offer a flexible and adaptive response to all suspected and confirmed cases of the virus.
We’re extremely proud of our staff who have been crucial to the delivery of these services and have continued to deliver a high-quality service for our customers during this outbreak. We’re sharing this recognition with our staff to let them know their efforts have been so highly praised.
For those who work in the offices being cleaned, it means a great deal to feel contact risks are being mitigated with thorough cleaning methods. Everyone can be safe and secure in the knowledge that their families and friends are less at risk because these acts of service.
This is only something a team of people dedicated to delivering a first-class service can achieve. So, a great big WELL DONE to everyone nominated and recognised as part of this award programme and to all our operatives getting the job done daily in response to the ongoing need for Covid-19 cleans.
Waiting for the fog to clear
Demonstration day today!
We’ve been giving some of our staff in the office an opportunity to understand how our fogging machines work to help them better visualise how the process is carried out, and see how the technology can support safer environmental working following the continued existence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In practise, the sanitising spray uses a viricidal cleaning solution to cover common touchpoints with an ultra fine spray mist, removing the threat of virus. Held at a 30cm distance, the equipment is used with appropriate PPE and helps us to decontaminate both hard and soft surfaces, allowing a safe return for our customers and staff to their working environments.
We provide fogging in response to requests for Covid-19 decontamination cleans on both suspected and confirmed outbreaks on our customer sites. This is carried out in conjunction with enhanced cleaning and touchpoint viricidal cleans that take place daily to combat the spread of the virus.
Call us on 0870 242 1420 or email helpdesk@miaoshou88.com for more information on how we can help. In the meantime, here’s our Operations Manager, Mike White leading the demonstration.
From lockdown to safe, clean environments
The recent pandemic has thrown a spotlight on cleaning in the workplace. As a business with over 30 years of operation, we’ve been uniquely placed to offer support at a time when cleanliness is at the forefront of everyone’s mind.
As more workplaces begin to open back up, we’re working in close partnership with customers, both existing and new, to meet the challenges presented by Covid-19 head on.
We’ve adapted our services to suit the new needs of each customer. At the core of this new drive is the ability to welcome back staff and customers alike into workplaces that instil confidence in personal safety and welfare.
We’re delivering an extremely valuable support service to minimise risk, meet current HSE and industry standard safety standards, and present a new understanding of what a clean and safe environment will look like going forward.
Many of our customers work in ‘key worker’ sectors, including healthcare, emergency services, education and utilities and we’ve supported them during lockdown with emergency response and deep cleans, provision of visual advice and guidance, PPE and ‘sanitising stations’ as well as new risk assessments and specification changes.
Instilling confidence and welcoming people back into the workplace are now a priority we can support in a variety of settings.
UK-wide fleet update
We’re taking delivery this week of some shiny new Solo branded fleet vehicles.
Our UK-wide fleet is a key part of our service delivery promise and with nearly 90 vehicles to maintain, we’ve worked with FRF Motors Swansea and ALD Automotive for over 10 years to lease and manage each one.
We operate a range of cars and vans for our Contract Managers and Mobile Cleaning Teams. As essential workers, the last few months have been extremely busy ones for them as they continue to respond to additional and emergency cleaning requests.
